Fabio Cannavaro has put his hand up for the Juventus job.

Antonio Conte risks a 15-month suspension, as he has opted to go to a full trial in order to prove his innocence when charged with failing to report an attempted fix while at Siena in Serie B.

“What would I do if Juventus called me? It’s those challenges, and those teams, that it would be difficult to say no to,” the Ballon d’Or winner told RTL 102.5 radio.

“Right now they have a great Coach and won the Scudetto, so I hope they can resolve this matter.

“After all, the only problem with Conte when banned would be the fact he couldn’t sit on the bench on a Sunday. A real Coach is seen by his day to day work in training.

“Not being on the bench is a problem, but I think they’d be able to deal with it anyway. With the technology they have nowadays, someone can sit in the stands, view the game and be able to have some control over team orders anyway.”

Sampdoria explain accepting plea bargain | Serie A News | Tribal Football

Sampdoria have announced a statement after accepting a plea bargain in the betting scandal despite proclaiming their innocence.

Sampdoria have announced a statement after accepting a plea bargain in the betting scandal despite proclaiming their innocence.

Samp took a plea bargain to start this season with a one-point penalty in Serie A after Stefano Guberti denied committing sporting fraud to fix Bari-Sampdoria on April 23 2011.

“U.C. Sampdoria S.p.a. confirm with great strength and conviction its absolute innocence of accusations levelled in the sporting trial.

“Sampdoria also wish to underline that the procedural strategy of a plea bargain, advised by our lawyers, was a decision we meditated and suffered over.

“The club had wanted to defend itself in the court, fighting every charge levelled at our player, but the current legal system excessively compresses the possibility of staging a full defence.

“Essentially, we would’ve been penalised automatically for ‘direct responsibility’ and we would not have even been allowed to question the accuser.”
